The Best 1990s Female Singers

The 1990s were a decade that really brought out and showcased the true abilities of the female singer. There were so many who made a huge presence in the music world and continue to do so today. The decade was truly one for the female, and we were blessed with so much great music as a result. Let’s have a look at three of the best female singers from this wonderful decade.

3. Natalie Merchant. Formerly with 10,000 Maniacs, this talented singer decided to go out on her own in the early 1990s, and what a successful move it was. Merchant had a top selling solo album and some great music videos really brought her to the forefront of the music scene.

2. Gwen Stefani. She was with No Doubt, but she graciously led this band and produced a ton of chart toppers. Some of her best songs included I’m Just a Girl and Spider Web, and the addicting hooks of those songs still live on in my head today.

1. Alanis Morissette. How could you ever forget about what she was to the 1990s? The quintessential angry female rock star, Alanis churned out hit after hit during the mid 1990s. From her biggest one, You Oughta Know, to One Hand in My Pocket, and others like Ironic, she was all over the place and perhaps the biggest female name of the 1990s.

Well, that wraps up my list. There are many others that are very worthy of mention, and I do plan to write more about them soon.
